We’re totally obsessed with Brit singer songwriter Lola Coca. Her debut single Bad Girlfriend has been released this weekend after spending the past year working on her album in Los Angeles (little bit jealous). Not only are we loving her catchy lyrics. We can’t get enough of her her quirky retro style and those striking feline features.
Tell us about your debut single Bad Girlfriend?
I think girls can be overly self critical. We give ourselves too much of a hard time on the road to perfection, especially through the eyes of the people we like. Bad Girlfriend is like rolling in the mud of imperfection. Knowing how you ”should” behave, but still choosing not to.
What Boyfriend advice would you give to your 16 year old self if you could go back in time?
”Mate… just, mate.”
Who inspired you musically growing up?
An amalgamation of strong solo female artists, Lauryn, Gwen, Erykah, Missy, Dionne Warwick! The musical influence list is endless.
What was that one album you listened to over and over again as a teenager?
The Miseducation… I STILL listen to it over and over! Maybe No Doubt – Beacon Street Collection also… Dr Dre = 2001!
Who are your style icons?
The real people in London. It’s a melting pot of lots of fabulous people. We take that for granted, no where else in the world do girls express their unique personal style so unapologetically. I can immediately spot someone who wears what they want over what’s considered ‘stylish.’ I pass people all the time and think, ”wow, she’s great.”
Tell us one fact about Lola Coca that most people don’t know.
‘The Tanning of America’ by Steve Stoute is one of my favourite books of all time.
Thanks for chatting with us Lola xoxo
